The popularity of this course, the large attendance and the favourable comments from participants encouraged us to make the material available for a wider group of colleagues interested in the management of coma. We have added a few chapters, which originally were not included in the course, hoping that, with the addition, not only the clinical neuroscientist but other physicians will find useful information on these pages.

We wrote this book with Maureen between 1980 and 1985. Presently it is out of print. The odd volumes of the old title are still available from sellers of rare books.
From the foreword: The results of modern medical science touch us all, one way or the other. They affect our health, our way of life and they certainly affect our way of death. The concept of death itself has also changed and has become one of the cornerstones of a bioethical revolution.
Our new book: The Way We Die - brain death, vegetative state, euthanasia and other end-of-life dilemmas was launched in Europe and the UK in September 2007. The North American edition was published in November 2007 by Pari Publishing, Pari, Italy

The Pediatric Neurosurgical Patient, A cooperative Approach
Warren H. Green, St. Louis, Missouri, 1989
From the Preface: Pediatric neurosurgery has evolved during the past decade as a clearly separate discipline from the mainstream of neurosurgery. Rapid scientific advancement and complex changes in the delivery of health care to children has increased the need for interdisciplinary recognition and collaboration. The delivery of optimum health care to children depends not only on the physician, but on the team effort of several others.
After many discussions, we decided that this volume must include chapters from those who provide major services to the pediatric neurosurgical patient. We feel that the chapters on nursing, speech therapy, audiology, neuropsychology, education, child life and rehabilitation enhance and complete this book. Our aim has been to unite basic knowledge of pediatric neurosurgery with practical clinical management to encourage a closer relationship among professionals.
